Artist's Description
This is a painting of objects on my dresser. Getting ready for a dinner party I realized how beautiful these items looked grouped together. The glass jars and clutch bag were my Mother's and from the 1940's. The necklace is faceted lavender stones. The glass vase was a gift from my brother. So all objects have a personal meaning to me.
About Carol Sweetwood
My love of photography led me to painting. I am a self-taught artist and have been painting seriously for the last 10 years. I do lean to oil on canvas, but I have also done a little work in watercolor, colored pencil and acrylic as well. I absolutely love rich colors and dramatic contrasts but most of all I enjoy variety. Such beauty surrounds us in our world and I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to express what I see and feel. Carol this is glorious!!!! I love the color combination of the rich burgundy red against that yummy cream color!!! Wonderfully composed!! But I think it's the detail and the brush work in the peonies (or roses?) that I like best!!!!! So beautiful!!!!!!
